Naz Reid Wins Sixth Man Of The Year
The race for this year’s Sixth Man of the Year Award was very tight; in fact, it was two votes tight. In the end, fans around the NBA saw Minnesota Timberwolves’ Naz Reid win the award for the first-time in his career.
This year’s race was between Reid, Malik Monk, and Bobby Portis Jr.; however, it was truly between Monk and Reid. To understand how close this award race was, both players tied for second-place and third-place voting, but it was a two-vote difference for first-place to name Reid as 6MOTY.
Reid averaged 13.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in a career-high 81 games. He had a total 843 bench points for Minnesota this season, which is second-most in franchise history.
Another historic fun fact would be Reid being the third undrafted player to win this award. The other two players were John Starks and Darrell Armstrong.
