NBA Insider: Suns Aren’t Breaking Up Big 3

The trio of Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal may not be going anywhere, as some fans expected, with intel coming out that Phoenix will run it back.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, he doesn’t believe James Jones and Mat Ishbia will make any drastic moves that alter their core three players, even after the disappointing first-round exit handed by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

“Do people in the league say that?” said Brian Windhorst on The Rich Eisen Show. “Yes, they do. I talk to multiple people who think that’s what they’re going to have to do that. Do the Suns say that? No, they do not.

“I think the Suns’ intention is to keep all three of these star players. Tweak the roster, tweak some of their systems and processes and try to be better next year.”

There is a strong feeling around the league that Phoenix will explore all options but keep their core nucleus intact for the next regular season.

Isaac Okoro (Shoulder) Out At Least Two Weeks

According to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Isaac Okoro is set to miss at least the next two weeks due to an AC joint sprain in his right shoulder.

The 23-year-old suffered the injury on December 16th against the Brooklyn Nets; fans saw him play 20 minutes before injuring himself.

In 23 games this season, Okoro averages 6.6 points off 49.5% from the field, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 21.0 minutes.

Okoro is in the first year of his three-year, $33 million deal.

According to the Philadelphia 76ers, Joel Embiid has been upgraded to questionable for Friday’s game against the Charlotte Hornets.

The plan is for the team to reevaluate the 30-year-old hours before their game on Friday; it would be a quick turnaround. However, he is already progressing, so there is a possibility of him playing.

Embiid suffered a right sinus fracture during their game against the Indiana Pacers on December 13th; Philadelphia said they would reevaluate him a week from then.

Overall, Embiid has only played six games this season. This is mainly due to suspension, this current injury, and looming knee issues.

Hawks Want To Trade Clint Capela By Deadline

According to multiple reports headlined by Marc Stein, the Atlanta Hawks want to trade Clint Capela’s expiring contract by this year’s trade deadline.

For those unaware, the 30-year-old is making $22.4 million this season, with him becoming an unrestricted free agent next offseason. Atlanta is reportedly not interested in re-signing him.

Onyeka Okongwu, when Capela is no longer with the franchise, is expected to handle the starting center position. The Hawks believe the young big man can handle those responsibilities.

Capela is averaging 10.0 points and 9.4 rebounds in 27 games this season.
