Stephen Curry To Only Stay With Warriors If They Aren't "Bottom Feeders"

In a recent interview with Andscape’s Marc Spears, Stephen Curry spoke on many subjects surrounding him and his career; the one that caught the attention of many was his future in the NBA and with the Golden State Warriors.

Will Curry remain with Golden State for the remainder of his career? Yes, but it’s on one condition: the franchise isn’t a bottom-feeding team. In other words, they don’t get stuck in a rebuilding phase that kills all aspirations of playoffs and competing for championships.

“I want to win. Let’s put it this way, it’s a longwinded way of saying that it if it is a situation where you’re a bottom feeder and it’s just because you want to stay there, I’d have a hard time with that. But I don’t think that’s going to be the reality.”

“It’s tough, right? I’ve always said I want to be a Warrior for life. At this stage in my career, I feel like that’s possible. And you can still be a competitive, it doesn’t mean you guaranteed the championship. It doesn’t mean winning. Winning is always a priority, but obviously you’re realistic. It doesn’t mean that it’s going to happen if you stay the course. You need to shake things up and keep reimagining what it looks like to evolve with what league is at right now, with where some of these talented teams are now.

I’m taking it one step at a time to be honest. I think that’s the only way that will protect my happiness. Also, it allows me to enjoy being myself when I’m out there playing. And I’ll continue to make the decisions that are best for me and for my career at the end of the day when it comes to just the imagination. I want to win. Let’s put it this way, it’s a longwinded way of saying that it if it is a situation where you’re a bottom feeder and it’s just because you want to stay there, I’d have a hard time with that. But I don’t think that’s going to be the reality.”

The 36-year-old has spoken about his future before, especially being able to be on a team that wins. So, that isn’t new. The only new thing he added was being on a bottom-feeder team, as Golden State did endure a rough stretch of that before winning the 2022 NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics.

Curry is heading into the third year of his four-year contract, as he’ll be an unrestricted free agent in 2026-27. That’ll make him 38 years old.

According to Chris Haynes, if Anthony Davis were to be traded before the deadline, the Golden State Warriors have emerged as a potential suitor for him.

There has been tons of speculation and rumors surrounding the future of the Dallas Mavericks and their plans concerning Davis; since firing general manager Nico Harrison, they’ve taken a patient route in order to figure out their future.

If the Warriors were to put together a serious trade offer, Golden State would need to center it around Draymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga. Financially speaking, Davis is making $54.1 million this season. The Warriors are just $264,000 below their second-apron hard cap.

This would force them into giving up Kuminga’s $22.5 million salary, as long with Green’s $25.8 million salary. With those two contracts, it would be a base start to be able to plot the foundation to secure the NBA champion.

General manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. is going to have to weigh his options when it comes to Green, Davis, and the future of this team. Reports have come out that they won’t trade core members of this team, but, if they want Davis, according to the experts, they would need to attach core members to be able to get Davis.

If they were to land the 32-year-old, it would set up Stephen Curry to have legitimate second and third option in Jimmy Butler and Davis. Plus, for the front office, finally put an end to their Kuminga situation.

According to ESPN’s Anthony Slater, the Golden State Warriors will be without Seth Curry for at least the next two weeks due to sciatic nerve irritation. This has negatively affected his lower back and pelvis area.

Since re-signing with the organization on December first, the 35-year-old has only been able to appear in two games.

Curry is averaging 7.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 steals per game this season.

Mo Bamba Signs One-Year Deal With Raptors

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Toronto Raptors have signed Mo Bamba to a one-year deal to help give them depth at the center position. This is currently due to Jakob Poeltl dealing with a back injury, and them having to start Scottie Barnes at center.

Despite Sandro Mamukelashvili being the primary backup center, he’s considered to be slightly undersized for his position to be a regular starter. With all that in mind, Toronto wanted to add someone else to provide size and depth.

After signing the 27-year-old, the Raptors will go $2.1 million into the luxury tax.

Bamba appeared in 32 games last season, four with the New Orleans Pelicans and 28 with the Los Angeles Clippers.
