Warriors Sign Stephen Curry To One-Year, $62.6 Million Extension

According to multiple reports, led by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Golden State Warriors have decided to extend franchise superstar Stephen Curry to a massive contract.

Not only was Curry making $115.3 million over the next two seasons, but Golden State tacked on another year worth $62.6 million. In total, the 36-year-old will be making $177.9 million over the next three seasons.

Along with this contract, it does bring history. Curry joins LeBron James and Kevin Durant as the only players in NBA history to earn $500 million or more in their professional careers.

This extension will keep Curry in The Bay through 2026-27. Many speculated they could finally team up with LeBron and Curry being free agents in 2026. However, as of right now, those rumors have been halted. Mainly due to this extension.

In 74 games last season, Curry averaged 26.4 points and 5.1 assists in 32.7 minutes. His healthiest season since 2016-17, in which he appeared in 79 games.

According to multiple reports headlined by Marc Stein, the Atlanta Hawks want to trade Clint Capela’s expiring contract by this year’s trade deadline.

For those unaware, the 30-year-old is making $22.4 million this season, with him becoming an unrestricted free agent next offseason. Atlanta is reportedly not interested in re-signing him.

Onyeka Okongwu, when Capela is no longer with the franchise, is expected to handle the starting center position. The Hawks believe the young big man can handle those responsibilities.

Scottie Barnes (Ankle) Could Return Sooner Than Expected

According to the Toronto Raptors, there is a good chance Scottie Barnes will return sooner than his original timeline of missing a few weeks.

It’s been ten days since the 23-year-old suffered the devastating ankle injury against the New York Knicks.

Toronto fans can see Barnes’ return starting as early as tonight. For Thursday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets, Barnes has been upgraded to “questionable” after having a full day of practice with no setbacks.

Many thought the severe ankle sprain would derail Barnes and the Raptors for weeks, but Scottie was able to practice and has confidence about his future.

“I’m so happy that it wasn’t as serious as I thought it was going to be,” Barnes said about the injury.

If he doesn’t play on Thursday, he will have another chance to play on Sunday against the Houston Rockets.

This season, the young star averages 20.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 7.4 assists in 14 games. Many speculate that this would be his break-out season to become an All-Star.
