According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick, current interim head coach Doug Christie is in a “well-positioned” spot to become the Sacramento Kings permanent head coach.
While he hasn’t been told anything or given any reassurances, when the Kings are doing their process, his name will be in the mix.
After former general manager Monte McNair and Sacramento parted ways, the Kings immediately hired Scott Perry to run their front office. With that hiring, Perry will have a say in who leads the team next season.
Christie has been with the Kings since 2021, a year before former head coach Mike Brown was hired to run this basketball team.
The former basketball player has only 51 games of coaching under his belt, which stems from this season. Christie, as an NBA player, played for Sacramento for five years. His ties to the team goes beyond being assistant/interim coach.
