According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, a three-team trade featuring the Minnesota Timberwolves, Brooklyn Nets, and Chicago Bulls has taken place to revolve around Nic Claxton and Julius Randle.

The Timberwolves are trading Julius Randle and the 28th pick to the Nets for the 33rd pick, as the Bulls are receiving Nic Claxton from the Nets. An hour later, reports came out that Chicago is trading Mo Gueye to Minnesota.

Minnesota’s organization did re-sign Randle during the 2025 offseason on a three-year, $100 million contract as they found retaining him over Nickeil Alexander-Walker was the bigger priority. With them unloading his contract, this created the path to extending Ayo Dosunmu (who signed a five-year, $112 million extension). The Wolves also created a $33.3 million trade exception as part of the trade.

Naz Reid will be inserted into starting lineup as their power forward. Jaden McDaniels will continue his rising role as a co-star for Anthony Edwards on offense.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Boston Celtics did submit proposal offers to the Milwaukee Bucks, but ultimately the Miami Heat’s offer was selected. This led to Giannis Antetokounmpo being traded to team up with Bam Adebayo, Andrew Wiggins, Norman Powell, and others.

Boston’s offer was Jaylen Brown and two first round picks. This emphasized pushing an offer that was superstar driven and not a volume-based, breaking the bank type offer. Completely different than the offer submitted by Pat Riley’s Heat.

It is unclear if Brown will be fully shopped now, but there is a reportedly growing expectation of him being offered to teams who do show interest. The Atlanta Hawks, Portland Trail Blazers, and Houston Rockets all have shown interest in him. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst has confirmed these rumors and turned them into reports.

Brown is eligible for a contract extension this offseason and is signed until the 2029 offseason.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Minnesota Timberwolves and gaurd Ayo Dosunmu have come to terms on a new contract agreement that will see him make $112 million over the next five years.

The 26-year-old will have a fifth year player option attached to his contract.

At the trade deadline, fans saw Rob Dillingham and four second-round picks get traded from the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Chicago Bulls for Dosunmu.

This contract extension came shortly after Minnesota traded Julius Randle to the Brooklyn Nets, as this was their way of clearing salary for offseason moves.
