NBA has a new business called “NBA Africa!”
NBA has a new business called “NBA Africa!” The NBA is trying to expand, fund, and do everything else and it seems to have a popular appeal. What do I mean by that? Well, for starters two former NBA players are backing this new project and so are two other investors of this company.
Real quick, the two basketball players would be Grant Hill and Dikembe Mutombo. Like the name, NBA Africa, this will take place in Africa as it is hoping that they can give enough funding to BAL to get them going. This is the new Basketball Africa League. This is to try to make basketball a huge sport in Africa, improve the lives of many in Africa through gender equality and social issues. Also, they want to expand and continue to grow BAL into something huge and profitable.
Here is what Adam Silver said during his virtual news conference:
“With the expertise, resources and shared vision, the immensely successful investors and NBA legends, we believe that basketball in Africa can become a top sport over the next decade.”
Here is what Dikembe Mutombo said about this topic:
“There is nothing more important to me than helping young people grow into leaders,” Mutombo said during the news conference. “And the NBA has helped me and many other Africans create an incredible platform to make a difference. Africa has one of the youngest populations in the world, and Africa youth just need the opportunity and support to achieve great things. The new NBA Africa is the transformative next step to do just that.”
