Suns could sign Kevin Love

Kevin Love has been bought out of his contract by the Cavaliers and many teams have an interest in the 34-year-old big man. Teams such as the Suns, Lakers, and Heat have all been rumored to have an interest.

Phoenix is looking to add one more big man after trading away Dario Saric to the Thunder for Darius Bazley; they currently have one roster spot remaining and it is being said that the Suns would use their prorated Taxpayer Midlevel Exception to sign Love. That would ultimately beat out the Heat financially as they could only use their prorated veteran minimum contract.

Plus, Ish Wainright’s two-way contract has expired due to him playing all eligible games under that contract. The reason, why Wainright is being brought up in conversation, is due to the fact that the Suns may have to choose between him and Love. Something a lot of fans are speculating.

With that being said, Phoenix will have a crucial decision to make as after that decision they’ll have their playoff-ready roster. James Jones may add him because of his added value coming off the bench, despite the poor season he has had, and that both were teammates back in Jones’s playing days.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Sacramento Kings are signing Doug McDermott to a one-year deal. The money was never made public.

This roster move comes after Tuesday’s trade getting rid of Jalen McDaniels to clear salary and for roster flexibility.

McDermott, who is 32 years old, played for the San Antonio Spurs and Indiana Pacers last season. With Indiana, he averaged 4.2 points in 11.3 minutes. With San Antonio, he averaged 6.0 points, 1.0 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 15.2 minutes.

De'Aaron Fox Eyeing Potential $345 Million Contract Extension

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, De’Aaron Fox is not entertaining this offseason/preseason’s three-year, $165 million extension. The 26-year-old is setting his eyes on a bigger prize.

There are two options on the table for him: the first option would be a four-year, $229 million maximum extension Fox could sign with Sacramento during the 2025 offseason. The second option would be a five-year, $345 million supermax if he makes an All-NBA team this season.

It is important to note that both sides want to keep the relationship going, as Fox has been publicly and privately loyal to this organization. Management and ownership have given Fox exclusive abilities to be able to influence who they sign, what direction the team goes, etc.

Under his current deal, Fox is making $34.8 million this season and $37.0 million the following season. There is no team/player option in this contract; he will be an unrestricted free agent in 2026.

Last season, Fox averaged 26.6 points (career-high), 4.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 2.0 steals in 74 games. He also had a career-high in minutes played with 35.9 minutes.

Sacramento opens their season at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 24th.
