76ers Clinch Playoff Spot

The Bucks, the Celtics, and now the 76ers have clinched a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Milwaukee and Boston did it on their own, but for Philly, they had the help of the Brooklyn Nets. However, does it really matter how a team gets in as long as they get in?

Fans were counting down the games until the Sixers got the spot, but many didn’t expect the Nets (out of all teams) to help Philly get into the postseason.

Confirmed by the NBA, with the Nets losing tonight, the 76ers have clinched a spot in the 2023 NBA Playoffs.

Also, I guess thank the Cleveland Cavaliers for being the team to beat Brooklyn. The final score was 115-109 where the Nets couldn’t complete the comeback against Donovan Mitchell’s team.

With that being said, here are teams to clinch a spot into the 2023 NBA Playoffs:

Celtics
76ers

Denver did clinch their division, however, have not been awarded a playoff spot yet.

The Nets will be making either the playoffs or the Play-In this season, that’s confirmed. However, the Heat and other teams are fighting to get out of the East’s Play-In.

Those teams being the Hawks, Bulls, and Raptors.

Paul George (Finger) Is Day-To-Day

According to the Philadelphia 76ers, Paul George will be considered “day-to-day) due to an injury to the extensor tendon in his left fifth finger. An MRI uncovered the injury.

His evaluation period will be through the next couple of days to determine whether he can return or needs more time.

The 34-year-old suffered the injury during Saturday’s game after playing 13 minutes; he sat out the second quarter before medical staff determined him to be out for the remainder of the game.

Jared McCain (Knee) Out For Remainder Of Season

According to the Philadelphia 76ers, Jared McCain will be shut down for the remainder of the season after further reevaluation by the surgeon who did the operation.

Rookie McCain suffered a torn meniscus and had the procedure on December 17th, as Philly said the recovery was going well. However, they will be indeed resting him until next season.

At one point in this season, the 20-year-old was considered Rookie of the Year due to his impressive performances throughout the 23 games.

In those games, McCain averaged 15.3 points off 46.0 FG%, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists.

On November 13th, fans saw McCain get a career-high 34 points and a career-high 10 assists against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He won Rookie of the Month for the Eastern Conference in November.

Joel Embiid (Sinus) Upgraded Questionable For Friday

According to the Philadelphia 76ers, Joel Embiid has been upgraded to questionable for Friday’s game against the Charlotte Hornets.

The plan is for the team to reevaluate the 30-year-old hours before their game on Friday; it would be a quick turnaround. However, he is already progressing, so there is a possibility of him playing.

Embiid suffered a right sinus fracture during their game against the Indiana Pacers on December 13th; Philadelphia said they would reevaluate him a week from then.

Overall, Embiid has only played six games this season. This is mainly due to suspension, this current injury, and looming knee issues.
