According to The Athletic’s Fred Katz, teams around the league don’t value Julius Randle the same way the New York Knicks do. That means his trade value isn’t as great as New York’s management thinks.

There’s always been a sense of whether Randle was a franchise player or a player that could have any role in this organization; it got increasingly louder when they went on a playoff run without the 29-year-old last season.

“I don’t believe there is a team in the NBA that would value the three-time All-Star more than the Knicks do,” writes Fred Katz at The Athletic. 

Katz continued to say that there’s only “neutral” interest in Randle, and that’s “at best.” This is heartbreaking to hear if you are a fan of the Knicks and want him gone.

Randle has one year left on his contract before deciding whether to exercise his option. If he opts into the option in 2025-26, it’ll cost New York $30.9 million.

According to the New York Knicks and ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Precious Achiuwa has agreed to a new deal with New York. He appeared in 49 games last season after being traded from the Toronto Raptors to the Knicks.

The 24-year-old is signing a one-year, $6 million deal to stay with New York after a successful showing last season on both sides. New York made a nice run in the postseason, before injuries, and Achiuwa averaged 7.6 points and 7.2 rebounds for them.

In 2025, he will be an unrestricted free agent.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the New York Knicks have extended head coach Tom Thibodeau to a multi-year contract.

While the money specifics have yet to be mentioned, it was reported that Thibodeau is being extended for three seasons, which will run through 2027-28.

Fans can generalize what he could make per year due to earlier reports saying the 66-year-old wants roughly $10 million a season.

New York’s management has complete faith in him, as they’ve gone all-in on their franchise after seeing him lead them to the postseason three of the four times since he was hired. Thibodeau was hired in 2020.
