OG Anunoby Traded To The Knicks
The best way to end 2023 is facilitating a big trade, and that’s exactly what the New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors did.
Per Adrian Wojnarowski and Shams Charania, RJ Barrett has been sent to Toronto, with OG Anunoby being sent to New York. Here are the full trade details.
Knicks:
- OG Anunoby
- Precious Achiuwa
- Malachi Flynn
Raptors:
Anunoby is most likely going to hit the market next offseason. It was known the two-way wing player was going to decline his option. Even though it’s an expiring contract, many expect him to re-sign with the Knicks – unless something goes wrong.
Also, for New York, Achiuwa and Flynn are eligible for restricted free agency this summer.
Speaking of restricted free agency, Quickley is rocking in the same boat after declining to extend with the Knicks last offseason. So for the upcoming offseason, he will be a restricted free agent with him wanting to be a starting point guard making between $25-$30 million a year.
Now, Toronto doesn’t have to worry about extending Barrett. He’s got a lengthy contract left. The Raptors have him on the books for the next four years averaging $26.7 million a season; this includes this season at $23.8 million.
All-in-all, this was a successful trade for both sides with each team gaining what they wanted to gain from this transaction. CourtSideHeat will have an article detailing and solving who won this trade in the coming days.
