The NBA Draft Is Now Two Nights

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the NBA is finalizing plans to make the NBA draft a two-night event.

This is such a real plan that there is no waiting; the 2024 NBA draft will be split into two days like how the NFL has theirs into multiple days.

The first round would be on Wednesday, with the second round being on Thursday. June 26th and 27th are the two days in mind.

One of the main reasons behind this change is due to teams expressing their frustrations about how rushed the second round is and, in turn, making it chaotic and allowing no order for the process of picks. Teams hope for a more seamless transition and order split into two days.

The league must get final approval from the National Basketball Players Association. Once approved, this upcoming draft will be held over two days.

Isaac Okoro (Shoulder) Out At Least Two Weeks

According to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Isaac Okoro is set to miss at least the next two weeks due to an AC joint sprain in his right shoulder.

The 23-year-old suffered the injury on December 16th against the Brooklyn Nets; fans saw him play 20 minutes before injuring himself.

In 23 games this season, Okoro averages 6.6 points off 49.5% from the field, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 21.0 minutes.

Okoro is in the first year of his three-year, $33 million deal.

The plan is for the team to reevaluate the 30-year-old hours before their game on Friday; it would be a quick turnaround. However, he is already progressing, so there is a possibility of him playing.

Embiid suffered a right sinus fracture during their game against the Indiana Pacers on December 13th; Philadelphia said they would reevaluate him a week from then.

Hawks Want To Trade Clint Capela By Deadline

According to multiple reports headlined by Marc Stein, the Atlanta Hawks want to trade Clint Capela’s expiring contract by this year’s trade deadline.

For those unaware, the 30-year-old is making $22.4 million this season, with him becoming an unrestricted free agent next offseason. Atlanta is reportedly not interested in re-signing him.

Onyeka Okongwu, when Capela is no longer with the franchise, is expected to handle the starting center position. The Hawks believe the young big man can handle those responsibilities.

Capela is averaging 10.0 points and 9.4 rebounds in 27 games this season.
