Despite the Phoenix Suns suffering a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, Phoenix fans, and fans in general, got to see the greatness of Devin Booker on full display.
Monday night saw Booker become the Suns’ all-time leading scorer with 15,668 points. The 28-year-old surpassed the great Walter Davis for the most points in Phoenix’s franchise history.
With 7:35 remaining in the third quarter, Booker drained the deep ball to make history. A timeout was called, and he was able to take a moment to celebrate with his family and hear the excitement come from the fans.
Not only did Booker accomplish this significant feat at the age of 28, but it took him 124 games less than Davis to secure it. Davis did it in 766 games, while Booker did it in 642. Greatness on full display.
Davis’ record stood for 37 years until Devin Armani Booker broke it in a thrilling OT game against former teammate Deandre Ayton. Booker put up 34 points, three rebounds, and four assists.
This season, Booker averages 26.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 6.7 assists, and 1.1 steals in 37.1 minutes per game.
