Ben Simmons Probably OUT For Season
The Nets announced Ben Simmons will be out until treatment for his nerve impingement in his back, but now it appears Simmons will be out for the remainder of the season. That is per Jacque Vaughn, head coach of the Brooklyn Nets.
“For me as a coach, there’s some things that I can control, some things that I can’t control,” Vaughn said. “What I can’t control is the impingement. What I can control is getting this group ready to play. And then in all honesty, the realism that he’s probably not going to join us for the rest of the year … certainty will come once he continues to be looked at by specialists.”
With realism entering the picture, it appears Simmons will not be with the team for a while with specialists taking a look at Simmons injury. It should be noted that Simmons only played 42 games this season, an underwhelming amount when comparing it to the amount of money he is making (and going to be making).
He averaged career-lows with 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game. This season was plagued by injuries and trying to get back into basketball shape after missing all of last season due to holdouts and injuries.
The Nets are 40-34, which lands them in the 6th seed behind the Knicks.
