Pelicans Not Wanting To Give Brandon Ingram Max Extension

If the New Orleans Pelicans were to extend Brandon Ingram, it wouldn’t consist of a new four-year, $208.5 million contract.

According to Christian Clark of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, New Orleans has no intentions of giving Ingram a massive extension. With many speculating due to his inconsistent and questionable play in the last couple of months.

During last season’s trade deadline, teams inquired about the 26-year-old’s availability when he was put on the trade block. All signs have been pointing towards an official end to their relationship before this upcoming season.

If Ingram remains with the Pelicans for the upcoming season, this will be his final season with the team. In the summer of 2025, fans will see him become an unrestricted free agent.

Brandon Ingram (Knee) Out Multiple Weeks

The New Orleans Pelicans have announced to the public that they’ll be without Brandon Ingram for the next two weeks. Confirmed by an MRI, he has suffered a left knee bone contusion.

The 26-year-old will be reevaluated then; his injury came against the Orlando Magic when he hyperextended his left knee.

It has been reported by Marc Stein that the Pelicans could be interested in trading Zion Williamson in hopes of landing Scoot Henderson. Stein reported the deal would have to either include Williamson or Brandon Ingram.

With the team weighing its options, New Orleans would rather trade Williamson than Ingram. It has also been rumored the team would build around Ingram if Zion were to get traded.

Williamson is becoming more and more touchable in the trade market with his recent injuries and commitment history leading to the Pelicans opening up the possibility of trading away the former first-overall pick.

The only team willing to entertain Zion is the Portland Trail Blazers; they currently own the third overall pick. The Charlotte Hornets, per Stein, are not wanting to risk their high draft pick on Zion’s ability to stay healthy.

Williamson is entering his first year of a five-year, $194.3 million extension.
