Injury Update Regarding Franz Wagner
What looked like a serious injury during Germany’s opening win against Japan is turning into a less serious one. This is according to team doctor, Oliver Putz.
Putz says Germany has ruled out any serious injuries regarding the left ankle of Franz Wagner.
“Nothing is broken, torn, or anything like this; things that would end the FIBA World Cup for him,” Putz said. “Franz feels better this morning than yesterday. We did another MRI this morning. But, the problem is that we don’t have the imaging yet, so we can’t say exactly what’s hurt yet.”
In the World Cup win over Japan, Wagner played 10 minutes and attempted 12 shots before being ruled out for the remainder of the game.
The Orlando Magic selected Franz Wagner with the 9th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, he’s heading into his third NBA season with them.
The 22-year-old is coming off a breakout year averaging 18.6 points off 48.5% from the field.
