Fred VanVleet testing his options in next offseason’s free agency
Fred VanVleet testing his options in next offseason’s free agency
Per the rumors and reports that have been coming out recently, the Raptors may not be extending their relationship with the 28-year-old.
It was reported by Josh Lewenberg of TSN that he turned down a contract extension worth up to $114 million before the start of the season.
While Toronto looks to want to retain one of their best players, it is looking like VanVleet is considering his options. However, it should be noted, next season, while a free agent, he will be restricted and the team can match any offer submitted by a team.
The front office has publicly stated that they want to keep VanVleet for the future, no new news regarding if that feeling/mindset has changed at all – given the team’s struggles and overall performance with Fred VanVleet on the team.
CourtSideHeat will continue to update this situation once given more updates.
The rumors of Houston offering big bucks to potentially former Raptors guard Fred VanVleet are turning into reports.
Per Marc Stein, the Rockets are preparing to offer Fred VanVleet a two-year, $83.6 million max contract.
While the Toronto Raptors are wanting to re-sign him, the Rockets are going to make that option very hard with them acting desperate to get a highly-rated guard.
Per Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, Fred VanVleet will most likely not be ending up with Philadelphia. The team is reportedly not expected to pursue the free-agent guard.
It doesn’t matter the decision James Harden makes, the 76ers aren’t interested. Despite the hiring of VanVleet’s old head coach Nick Nurse, there is belief there won’t be a reunion.
VanVleet is an unrestricted free agent, which means he can sign anywhere he likes. The Phoenix Suns, Houston Rockets, and Los Angeles Lakers have shown interest in signing the guard.
