Hawks Prefer To Trade Trae Young Over Dejounte Murray

According to Marc Stein, the Atlanta Hawks management is more inclined to trade Trae Young than they are Dejounte Murray. Many factors go into Atlanta trading either one of them, but the main one is them being terrible on the court together.

“There is a growing belief in many corners of the league that Atlanta’s preference would actually be shopping Young.”

Murray was tested in the market during this past trade deadline, but general manager Landry Fields did not like any of the offers. Young is believed to have more market value despite not working with Atlanta.

Young is finishing his second year of his $215 million deal. He has three more years on his deal with a $48 million player option.

Hawks Continue To Want Austin Reaves For Dejounte Murray

The Lakers proposed a trade offer to the Hawks involving D’Angelo Russell, but that got squashed when he started playing well, and values were changed on both sides. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Atlanta wants Austin Reaves from Los Angeles.

They’ve always wanted him, but the Lakers aren’t interested. Those types of talks have almost stalled out with little to no traction picking up.

Both teams can resume talks before the deadline; however, both sides are way off in getting value from this deal.

Whether you find it good news or bad news, Dejounte Murray is not coming to Los Angeles after talks have officially stalled out.

Per Marc Stein, this is a very “unrealistic” trade to happen after the Lakers put D’Angelo Russell back into the starting lineup, and his play improved nicely. Plus, the Atlanta Hawks never wanted Russell in the first place. They always wanted a third team to acquire him.

Are the Lakers dropping out of the race for Murray? Potentially, as their original offer may not be standing any longer. If desires have dropped, another team may swoop in and offer the right price for Atlanta to say “yes”.

Dejounte Murray, D’Angelo Russell Trade Being Discussed

The Atlanta Hawks have been the center of attention lately, with them wanting to get rid of Dejounte Murray, making a lot of teams ready to scoop him up. With all the competition for Murray, the Los Angeles Lakers are making moves and already discussing trade packages.

Per The Athletic’s Jovan Buha, both sides want to swap guards in this interesting package. Los Angeles would give Atlanta Russell, Jalen Hood-Schifino, a 2029 first-rounder, and some other draft assets. Atlanta would give up just Murray.

It’s also been reported the Lakers are making Austin Reaves untouchable, and the Hawks are making Trae Young untouchable.

Buha said while talks have stalled out, they’re expected to pick back up closer to teams getting to this season’s trade deadline. Rob Pelinka is taking this time before the deadline to assess if moves need to be done and, if so, make some according to their needs.
