Ja Morant Making Return Against Pelicans

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the long awaited return of rising superstar Ja Morant is happening Tuesday against the New Orleans Pelicans.

The 6-19 Memphis Grizzlies have been plagued by sloppy play and the injury bug, but now fans can have some hope with the return of Morant.

It’s safe to say Memphis has struggled heavily without Morant, but this ordinary game on a random Tuesday is anything but that for the Grizzlies and their fans.

Statistics have made it clear the Grizzlies are most likely not making the playoffs, however, it’ll most likely change due to the return of one Ja Morant.

As a side note, Morant was permitted to practice with his team during his 25-game suspension. So it appears he is ready to make an immediate impact and shake off the game-time rust.

Morant was suspended indefinitely by the league after repeating the same mistake of flashing a firearm on an Instagram Live.

Brandon Clarke Avoids Knee Surgery

According to multiple reports, the Memphis Grizzlies will not have to see Brandon Clarke undergo surgery for his existing knee injury.

Memphis announced on Monday that Clarke received an injection in his knee to be able to avoid surgery, which is always the second option.

Despite suffering a high-grade PCL sprain on March 19th against the Portland Trail Blazers, the team expects him to be ready for next season.

In 64 games this season, the 28-year-old averaged 8.3 points and 5.1 rebounds in 18.9 minutes per game.

Taylor Jenkins Was Expected To Be Fired In The Offseason

According to multiple reports, there was a growing feeling around the league that Taylor Jenkins was going to be fired in the offseason.

The timing was very surprising, but the firing was not for many people associated with the NBA. In fact, it was almost expected he wouldn’t return for the next season.

Why the feeling was growing so much was due to Memphis overhauling his coaching staff and completely cutting him out for the future.

“The anticipation was they’d get bounced in the first round and he’d be fired,” said Tim MacMahon on Monday’s Hoop Collective Podcast. “That’s honestly been the anticipation since last summer. All season long. Like the odds of Taylor Jenkins coming back next year were very slim. But to be fired with nine games left in the season… a playoff team. Yeah, the timing was shocking.”

Jenkins was their head coach for six seasons before getting canned, he was hired back in 2019 to replace current Detroit Pistons head coach J.B. Bickerstaff before they selected Ja Morant with the second overall pick.
