Judge Rules In Favor Of Ja Morant; It was Self-Defense

ESPN’s Baxter Holmes was the first to break this story Tuesday, as Ja Morant earned a big victory in his personal life on Monday.

It has been learned that a judge has deemed actions against the teenage boy, stemming from his lawsuit, in 2022 to be purely self-defense.

The Tennessee judge ruled Morant deserves the benefits of civil immunity after Morant had evidence of needing to strike first during a pickup gone wrong.

Joshua Holloway was the one to file the lawsuit, at the time being 17 years old, where he claimed the star attacked him. It was later found that Morant had a ball thrown at his face, Holloway was coming close to Morant, and Morant was trying to protect his life.

During the filing, Shelby County Circuit Judge Carol Chumney ruled the 24-year-old “enjoys a presumption of civil immunity” under Tennessee’s self-defense immunity statute. This is why the judge found him clear of any wrongdoings.

Since Morant has the ability to claim self-defense, Holloway must prove how Morant’s actions were not self-defense and not Morant proving how his actions were self-defense.

Ja Morant (Surgery) Out For Season

Monday night was sad for Memphis Grizzlies fans as the team revealed that Ja Morant required shoulder surgery and will be out for the remainder of the season.

It was an absolute gut punch to the team as Memphis finally returned to their winning ways after Morant returned from his 25-game suspension.

The 24-year-old injured his shoulder during Saturday’s training session, and while an injury did occur, nobody believed it to be season-ending. That was until ongoing soreness and flareups were happening to the extent that an MRI needed to take place; this led to them shutting down Morant for the remainder of the season.

In nine games since his return, Ja Morant averaged 25 points and eight assists in 35 minutes per game.

Ja Morant Making Return Against Pelicans

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the long awaited return of rising superstar Ja Morant is happening Tuesday against the New Orleans Pelicans.

The 6-19 Memphis Grizzlies have been plagued by sloppy play and the injury bug, but now fans can have some hope with the return of Morant.

It’s safe to say Memphis has struggled heavily without Morant, but this ordinary game on a random Tuesday is anything but that for the Grizzlies and their fans.

Statistics have made it clear the Grizzlies are most likely not making the playoffs, however, it’ll most likely change due to the return of one Ja Morant.

As a side note, Morant was permitted to practice with his team during his 25-game suspension. So it appears he is ready to make an immediate impact and shake off the game-time rust.

Morant was suspended indefinitely by the league after repeating the same mistake of flashing a firearm on an Instagram Live.
