According to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps, Jalen Duren is set to make more than $30 million a season on his new contract in restricted free agency this offseason. This seemingly comes after reports speculated that the Detroit Pistons and Duren were nowhere close to an agreement.
Despite betting on himself and earning an All-NBA award, his poor postseason play did stunt his hype and advantages towards securing a lucrative contract. Despite that, some reports do have him making around $40 million a season, if he doesn’t sign for the 30 percent Rose rule that he qualified for.
In 70 regular season games, the 22-year-old averaged 19.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 28.2 minutes.
