According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, confirmed by the former head coach, Jamahl Mosley has been fired by the Orlando Magic after being eliminated in the first round of the postseason against the Detroit Pistons.

While never getting out of the first round, Mosley led his team to three consecutive playoff trips in the five years he coached the organization. The 47-year-old has been credited in developing Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero, and successfully turning this franchise around. His total record with the organization is 189-221.

Despite him getting fired and having a losing record, the New Orleans Pelicans have thrown his name into the pot concerning their own head coaching vacancy.

Jamahl Mosley Extends With Magic

Head coach Jamahl Mosley has signed an extension with the Orlando Magic. The organization has seen great progress from the 45-year-old.

He signed a four-year deal that’ll run through the 2027-28 season. Even though his overall record is 93-136, he has improved this team’s wins each season. It improved from 22 wins to 34 wins last season, with them now being 37-28 on the season.

Orlando is in contention for its first playoff berth since 2020, the NBA Bubble era. This young team is fifth in its conference and twelfth in the league.
