Jock Landale Likely Out Of World Cup With Injury
Former Phoenix Suns, newly acquired Houston Rockets player Jock Landale will be most likely sidelined for the remainder of the World Cup.
Team Australia will be moving on without him, as confirmed by his coach Brian Goorjian.
“Telling the truth here, he’s not getting on the plane with us. He’s gonna have an MRI. It didn’t look great, so they’re gonna deal with that here; we’re gonna travel with the 12 we’ve got now and prepare. I’m on the mindset right now as if we don’t have him,” said Australia coach Brian Goorjian.
Landale suffered the injury during a warmup game against South Sudan. It is being described as a “serious” injury as he’s been dealing with minor ankle issues until rolling his ankle.
At the beginning of summer, the 27-year-old signed a four-year, $32 million deal with Houston.
In 69 games for the Suns last season, he averaged 6.6 points (52.8% FG) and 4.1 rebounds in 14.2 minutes.
