According to ESPN’s Anthony Slater, the Golden State Warriors are considered to be less likely to trade Jonathan Kuminga following Jimmy Butler tearing his ACL. This even comes after months long of tension between the team, Kuminga, and Steve Kerr.
Prior to Butler’s unfortunate injury, Kuminga saw himself out of the rotation for an entire month. When finally making his return to the rotation, and putting together solid appearances, he hyperextended his left knee last Thursday.
Even before this injury, the 23-year-old has had a limited trade market, as his value hasn’t been as high as many were expecting. The realest player in this sweepstakes would be the Sacramento Kings.
While Sacramento are willing to give up contracts for him, Golden State has stated they do not want long-term contracts in players like DeMar DeRozan or Malik Monk. They’d prefer expiring contracts.
The trade deadline is February 5th.
