Julius Randle wins Most Improved Player Award!

Julius Randle wins Most Improved Player Award! The Knick’s developmental, and potential star, Julius Randle has won this award and for New York that is significant. The Knicks have not seen the light of day for the longest time since Patrick Ewing, and arguably Carmelo Anthony.

Well, times are changing as the Knicks are making the playoffs and one of their players won an award. Who knew that statement could be read or said out of someone’s mouth? Julius Randle has had a phenomenal year, like the award MIP, this shows great improvement of stats and how you affect a team; he greatly showed that, but first let’s start with statistics.

Here is a breakdown of last year and this year, and might I say this is remarkable for the turnaround.

  • 2019-20: 32.5 minutes per game, 19.5 points per game, 46.0 percent FG shooting, 27.7 percent 3-PT shooting, 9.7 rebounds per game, 3.1 assists per game
  • 2020-21: 37.6 minutes per game, 24.1 points per game, 45.6 percent FG shooting, 41.1 percent 3-PT shooting, 10.2 rebounds per game, 6.0 assists per game

Everything spiked besides the the FG shooting and that .4 percent does not mean a thing as that is a very low decrease; one that does not hinder the execution of this player’s skill-set or gameplay.

How was the award presented to him?

Like the last award, the 6MOY Award, with Jordan Clarkson and his teammate. The NBA has decided to go into another direction, a different one. How? Well, the video you are about to watch shows Randle’s son giving him the award. Presenting it to him.

How many votes did he win?

Let’s just say this was almost a clean sweep victory, what does that mean? Well… that means that Julius Randle got 98 out of 100 first-place votes for this award. Only two other people thought it shouldn’t have been him, however, the rest of everyone that knows basketball gave their vote to the MIP Player Of The Year!

It was so dominant that the other two votes went to Jerami Grant, yep. It went to Grant who shouldn’t even have gotten one, however, again, congrats to Randle because this is huge for many people. That includes the organization, the hopes of retaining him for many years, and even for his family.
