Will Kawhi Leonard ever be fully healthy? Right now, that question cannot be answered as the Los Angeles Clippers are dealing with him trying to suit up for a preseason game.

The 33-year-old has not played in a preseason game yet, and now, Leonard will be out for the final game before heading into the regular season.

In addition to him being out of this game, Leonard may be missing the season opener on October 23rd against the Phoenix Suns.

“Continue to keep rehabbing,” Clippers coach Ty Lue said when asked about the plan for Leonard this week. “Keep getting better. Keep checking the boxes.”

Right knee inflammation has been the culprit in Leonard’s long road to recovery, as it is attacking his surgically repaired knee.

Since last season, Leonard missed the final eight games of the regular season and only appeared in two playoff games due to inflammation and, in general, knee injuries.

“We’re just taking it slow, day by day and just trying to get me back on the floor. Once those conversations come, we’ll see what they’re talking about [on the best approach for back-to-backs].” Kawhi Leonard lets people have a peek at what’s happening.

Leonard is entering the first year of his new max veteran contract. For reminder, he is making $149.5 million over the next three seasons.

According to the man, Kawhi Leonard plans to play in the Los Angeles Clippers’ season opener.

Despite recovering from surgery on his right knee, the 33-year-old is very optimistic about his chances to play. If he were to play, it would be in 22 days at home against the Phoenix Suns.

“We’ll figure it out. I’m happy that I’m feeling good and it’s feeling a lot better than it was.”

Leonard remains cautious and has felt great the past month; this is all the right stuff fans want to hear from their franchise leader.

“We’re taking it day by day,” Leonard said. “Everything has been going great for the past month, but being very cautious for reasons in the past we haven’t been able to finish some playoff runs, so making sure we’re staying healthy for those important moments.”

Los Angeles had its media day yesterday, Monday, and it was very successful. One of the main highlights was the reporters’ conversation with the two-time champion.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Kawhi Leonard cannot participate in the Los Angeles Clippers training camp due to a knee procedure.

The 33-year-old underwent surgery back in May, which was somewhere around two months after he tried to play for Team USA and had to remove himself from the team due to his knee.

While Leonard will be limited to only strengthening his knees to start, Los Angeles is very optimistic about his progress for the upcoming season.

The Clippers’ first preseason game is against the Golden State Warriors on October 5th; however, more importantly to them and Leonard, their first regular season game is against the Phoenix Suns on October 23rd.
