According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Phoenix Suns are most definitely trading Kevin Durant and it has come down to three teams they are negotiating with currently.

The frontrunners to potentially land Durant are the Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets, and Miami Heat. All three of these teams have shown legit interest since the NBA trade deadline, or, for the Heat, since the time the Suns landed him.

Serious negotiations have manifested over the past 48 hours, which includes multiple offers. Charania reports a deal could be done in the coming days.

“There is some serious traction on conversations, on trade scenarios,” Charania said on the Pat McAfee Show. “They’ve had about six to eight teams reach out. There’s been interest. There’s been some offers. There’s been some negotiation.”

Many reports have said a trade could be done before June 25th’s NBA draft.

According to Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro, the Phoenix Suns could seriously trade Kevin Durant by the NBA Draft. One of the top teams who could acquire him are the San Antonio Spurs.

By trading Durant close to the draft, it would allow Phoenix to focus on retaining their lost draft capital and be able to have a full rebuild around Devin Booker.

If San Antonio were to trade for Durant, then they would have the most assets of young talent, current and future draft picks, and expiring contracts Phoenix could want. The Suns have been wanting more draft capital since failing last season, which is why they talked to teams like the Houston Rockets.

In this year’s draft, the Spurs have the second overall pick and the 14th overall pick. In total, they have eight first-rounders from now to 2031.

For San Antonio, they would love to pair Durant with Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox. Plus, give more veteran leadership to their young core of talent.

As a sidenote, the Suns are heading into a complete rebuild. They’ve remodeled their front office and coaching staff, plus have made it clear they no longer want Bradley Beal apart of their organization. This has been confirmed by 98.7’s Gambo.

The NBA Draft is June 25th and June 26th.

According to multiple reports, spearheaded by Marc Stein, it’s looking like no deals for Kevin Durant will materialize until teams are given full confirmation on whether Giannis Antetokounmpo is leaving the Milwaukee Bucks or not.

There is a strong feeling that teams would rather get the younger, less injury-prone, superstar in a blockbuster deal. Per numerous reports, teams who have interest in Durant also have significant interest in Giannis.

As it came out a couple weeks ago, for the first time in his career, Antetokounmpo is becoming more open-minded to leaving his Milwaukee franchise. A bombshell all into itself.

While Milwaukee is looking to keep their franchise player, Phoenix is wanting to do the exact opposite.
