According to Barry Jackson, the Miami Heat have legit interest in acquiring veteran wing Klay Thompson for their upcoming season. Reportedly, Miami wanted to bring in both Thompson and LeBron James, however, even if they can’t sign James, they still would want Thompson.

It is unclear whether or not the Dallas Mavericks would move the 36-year-old via a buyout or trade. Since last season’s trade deadline, Dallas have been open to moving the multi-time champion.

Last week, Marc Stein stated that if the Mavericks were to move on from Thompson, they would want it to be through a trade.

“To this point as much has been relayed to me is the Mavs preference would be a trade,” said Stein. “I think it’s still early enough in the summer that if you’re the Mavs you would exhaust those options first.”

The Heat are looking to address their needs for more shooting and size on the wing, Thompson would gladly fill that. Additionally, he would fit alongside players like Andrew Wiggins.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Golden State Warriors will be able to take on former teammate Klay Thompson very soon when the regular season begins.

The newly signed Dallas Mavericks player will have the chance to play against his former team on November 12th.

A reminder that the regular season begins on October 22nd and goes until April 13th of 2025.

Warriors Rejected Klay Thompson’s Two-Year, $40 Million Offer

According to multiple reports, Klay Thompson and his agent brought several contract proposals to the Golden State Warriors before the start of free agency. However, management wasn’t having it.

The latest offer was a two-year, $40 million deal. The Warriors shot down this very cheap, reasonable deal. This was after Thompson came to terms with having an Andre Igudola-type role at Golden State.

Golden State wanted him to come off the bench behind Brandin Podziemski, prompting the team to take a different financial approach. Mike Dunleavy Jr. sought names like Mikal Bridges, Lauri Markkanen, LeBron James, and Paul George.

About two weeks after the Warriors rejected his final offer on June 1st, Thompson decided that he needed to find himself with a different team and finish his journey somewhere else. This led to him signing with the Dallas Mavericks on a three-year, $50 million deal.
