After missing the Minnesota Lynx’s win over the Washington Mystics, Napheesa Collier was ruled to be battling plantar fasciitis. This foot injury causes inflammation in the part of the foot that deals with walking/moving on it.
According to Lynx’s head coach, Cheryl Reeve, the team will be monitoring her day-by-day. This even goes for her playing time on the U.S. Olympic team.
For Collier, this injury is nothing new; in fact, she’s been dealing with this type of injury since her college days.
“This is something she’s used to dealing with,” Reeve said. “At the same time, she has goals. And we’ve always felt like doing right by the players … balancing if it’s good for her to go, then we’ll look at that. And if it’s not, and it’s in the name of being ready for when we have a chance to get the national team together [we’ll do that]. We’re just going to evaluate that. It’s obviously too soon. We’ve got a couple of weeks.”
There is no date for the 27-year-old’s return.
