According to New York Post’s Stefan Bondy, Jordan Clarkson has made the decision to sign with the New York Knicks on a one-year deal worth $3.6 million.

This comes immediately afterwards of finalizing a contract buyout with the Utah Jazz, as he was in the final year of his multi-year contract with the organization. The 33-year-old had been with Utah since 2020.

As all good things must come to an end, Clarkson put an ending to that chapter of his career and decided to take his talents to a playoff contender. Per multiple reports, Clarkson only wanted to play for a franchise that had the ability to go and make a playoff run.

The last time Clarkson was in the postseason was back in the 2021-22 season.

Last season, Clarkson averaged 16.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists in 37 game appearances.

According to Ian Begley of SNY, the New York Knicks’ chances of stealing Jason Kidd from the Dallas Mavericks is not off the table. In fact, that opportunity “is not completely closed.”

Since Monday, New York being able to hire Kidd is still in the realm of possibility. This is even with the Knicks already being denied by the Mavericks.

Since being hired in 2021, Kidd has led the Mavericks to the Western Conference Finals twice and the NBA Finals once. Many are expecting Dallas to fight tooth and nail to retain their beloved coach.

New York is moving to their other plans, if they truly can’t secure Kidd. They’ll be interviewing both Mike Brown and Taylor Jenkins this week for their open position.

Before adding to their list with Kidd, the Knicks attempted to sway other coaches from their current teams. This includes Billy Donovan, Quin Snyder, Ime Udoka, and Chris Finch. In case anyone is wondering, all of them said no.

According to multiple reports, spearheaded by ESPN, since the firing of Tom Thibodeau, the New York Knicks have been constructing their list of possible head coach candidates. This has ranged from Houston Rockets coach Ime Udoka to Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd.

While Houston has no interest in allowing their successful coach to interview for the Knicks open position, the Mavericks are giving Kidd the option to stay or to leave. Several reports have said Dallas won’t hold it against him if that’s the decision he wants to make.

New York is expected to reach out to the Mavericks to request an interview with Kidd, as both sides have mutual interest in one another.

“The way I would describe this is there’s mutual intrigue on both sides,” said Brian Windhorst on Monday’s Sports Center.

Kidd signed an extension during the Mavericks run to the NBA Finals back in 2024. It’s unclear whether the 52-year-old would want to leave Dallas in hopes of competing for a championship soon, or stay and develop Cooper Flagg – assuming the Mavericks select him.
