NBA Insider: Pistons Wild Card Team To Land Trae Young
The Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Lakers, and San Antonio Spurs were all teams who were seen as “favorites” or main destinations to land the talented point guard.
However, in recent developments, Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus believes the Detroit Pistons could have a dog in this fight for Trae Young. He believes fans around the league need to keep an eye on Detroit.
It’s no hidden fact that Detroit needs to upgrade themselves, and Atlanta is looking to trade either Dejounte Murray or Young, most likely Young, due to recent reports, so why not make this a reality?
“The wild card might be the Detroit Pistons, who ‘Need to do something,’ per multiple competing executives,” wrote Eric Pincus.
While it’s agreeable that any addition to Monty Williams’ team would be positive, it’s also safe to say that Young’s addition would transcend this organization. He ended the regular season averaging 25.7 points and 10.8 assists per game.
It’s something to consider, as a backcourt with Cade Cunningham and Trae Young would be special. In fact, a starting lineup featuring Cunningham, Young, Ausar Thompson, and Jalen Duren would be magical.
Fans definitely have something to think about heading into the offseason.
