Pelicans Eyeing Trae Young And Other Top-Level Players

According to the Times Picayune’s Christian Clark, the New Orleans Pelicans are expected to engage in trade talks for players like Trae Young, Darius Garland, and Dejounte Murray.

While the Atlanta Hawks aren’t willing to easily move off of Murray, if there is a good enough offer, they’ll entertain it. Garland’s situation is a little more complicated, with a trade request looming, but the team doesn’t want to trade him.

Regardless of what’s going on internally with other teams, New Orleans will be real buyers of these listed players. They took a look at these players during the trade deadline; however, a substantial deal never emerged.

The biggest area of concern for the Pelicans is their lead guard position, with many saying it is holding them back from their fullest potential. It’s also been looked through the lens of Zion Williamson being paired with an exceptional combo guard.

Pelicans Fearful Zion Williamson (Hamstring) Will Miss More Time

According to the team, the New Orlean Pelicans are bracing for the reality of Zion Williamson being out for more than his scheduled timeline.

Originally, the 24-year-old was set to return in four to six weeks, however, multiple treatments have not allowed him to properly recover. This has caused him to be no where near playing shape.

Williamson has been out since November 6th, which has caused him to play in only six of the seventeen available games.

Zion appeared in a career-high 70 games last season. He’s only played in 190 career games since entering the league in 2019.

Joel Embiid To Miss Multiple Games With Knee Swelling

According to the Philadelphia 76ers, Joel Embiid has suffered swelling in his left knee and will require time off to heal.

Right now, Embiid is set to miss at least two games, as the 30-year-old was ruled out for Friday’s game and has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Thirty minutes before tip off, Embiid was ruled out for the game on Friday against the Brooklyn Nets. The expectation was for him to test his knee out, but he never made it onto the court.

Embiid has only played in four of the fifteen possible games this season.
