While making an appearance on the “All the Smoke” podcast, Matt Barnes asked Rajon Rondo if his time in the NBA is up.
Rajon Rondo confirmed to Barnes and the world that he is officially retiring from the league after 16 seasons. He hasn’t played since the 2021-22 season for the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers. The two-time champ is 38-years-old.
“Absolutely,” said Rondo. “Yeah, I’m done. I can’t. I’d rather spend time with my kids.”
“What a time, it was definitely something that I never took for granted when I was in the game,” Rondo said. “I loved every minute of it, and I appreciate the brotherhood that I was able to share and bond and grow with over the years. I’ve learned so much in this game and it’s made me the man who I am today. … I tell people all the time, this wasn’t a dream of mine, it was a goal. I was able to lock in, stay disciplined, I didn’t party a lot in college. But it was worth the sacrifice of me getting to where I wanted to be in life.”
Kristaps Porzingis has spent the past two seasons dealing with a mysterious illness that has been up-and-down in curing him from. Nobody really knows what he is dealing with, however, the 30-year-old says he is becoming healthier and is ready to play again.
“I believe I will be healthy now,” Porzingis said. “This is what I really feel. Not to sell anything because I’ve been in and out, out again. But this time, I really feel this is it.”
Porzingis strongly believes he has now turned a corner and expects to be available over the stretch of the remaining season.
Since being traded from the Atlanta Hawks at the deadline, and only appearing in 17 games for them, Porzingis has only played two games for the Golden State Warriors.
According to Philadelphia 76er’s head coach Nick Nurse, Tyrese Maxey did not suffer any fractures in his pinky finger. Maxey underwent an MRI for his sprained right hand.
“No breaks,” Nurse said. “Now, he’s got to see the hand specialists to figure out what’s next.”
Now, Philadelphia is currently assessing the level of damage and when he will be able to return to play again.
Nurse says the talented guard sprained the same pinky last year, which adds to the “concern factor.”
