According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Boston Celtics have traded Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers for Paul George, two first round picks, and two second round picks. The two first-rounders are in 2028 and 2031, as the two second-rounders are in 2028 and 2030.

After failing to trade Brown to the Milwaukee Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Boston went on the hunt for teams who were willing to part ways with several draft picks and a quality player. Numerous reports stated around “8-10” teams were interested in having a conversation with Brad Stevens’ team.

Brown is on a $57 million contract for the 2026-27 season, $61 million in 2027-28, and $64.9 million in 2028-29. The 29-year-old will be eligible for a a two-year, $141.8 million contract extension.

George is owed $54.1 million in 2026-27 and has a player option worth $56.6 million in 2027-28. George is currently 36-years-old and has a history of being injury prone. Last season, he appeared in just 37 games. The last time he played in more than 60 games was back in 2023.

Last season, Brown averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists in 71 games.

According to Philadelphia 76er’s head coach Nick Nurse, Tyrese Maxey did not suffer any fractures in his pinky finger. Maxey underwent an MRI for his sprained right hand.

“No breaks,” Nurse said. “Now, he’s got to see the hand specialists to figure out what’s next.”

Now, Philadelphia is currently assessing the level of damage and when he will be able to return to play again.

Nurse says the talented guard sprained the same pinky last year, which adds to the “concern factor.”

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, before the closing of Thursday’s trade deadline, the Philadelphia 76ers traded Eric Gordon to the Memphis Grizzlies.

The full terms of the transaction see the Grizzlies landing Gordon and a 2032 second-round pick swap. Philadelphia did this move to make way converting Dominick Barlow from a Two-Way deal to a standard National Basketball Association contract.

In 6 games this season, the 37-year-old is averaging 5.5 points off 57.1% from the field.
