According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, prior to Thursday’s trade deadline, the Charlotte Hornets traded Tyus Jones to the Dallas Mavericks for Malaki Branham. With this trade, Charlotte opens up a $7 million trade exception for themselves.

Jones was previously traded by the Orlando Magic on Wednesday, but was then later traded to a different the following day.

For Dallas, they’ve had interest in Jones since the beginning of last offseason. Now, they get their point guard and help fill that major need at that position.

In 48 games this season, Jones is averaging 3.0 points and 2.4 assists in 15.7 minutes.

In 28 games this season, Branham is averaging 4.6 points and 1.6 rebounds in 9.8 minutes.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Dallas Mavericks have traded Anthony Davis to the Washington Wizards for multiple players and picks.

The Mavericks will receive:

• AJ Johnson
• Malaki Branham
• Marvin Bagley III,
• Two first-round picks
• Three second-rounders

This trade deadline, fans saw Washington complete their rebuilding phase with the additions of Anthony Davis and Trae Young.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, in rather shocking news, the Dallas Mavericks will most likely be without Anthony Davis for a couple of months. He has sustained ligament damage to his left hand.

If Davis does not need surgery, then the Mavericks will be without him for six weeks. However, if he would need surgery, then it would require extra time of recovery, most likely meaning he would miss multiple months.

Due to the timing of his latest injury, this could run him past the NBA trade deadline. That means the Mavericks will have no value in him to be able to move him off their books. He suffered the injury during Thursday’s loss to the Utah Jazz.

Before this injury, the 32-year-old athlete was out multiple weeks due to a calf strain.

Davis is due $58.5 million next season, and has a player option for $62.8 million in 2027-28.
