Thunder Sign Isaiah Hartenstein To $87 Million Deal
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Isaiah Hartenstein is leaving the New York Knicks for the Oklahoma City Thunder on a massive contract. Sam Presti and his agents were working out the final details Sunday night leading into Monday morning.
The 26-year-old is signing a three-year, $87 million deal to join a young OKC team. New York could only have offered Hartenstein a four-year deal worth $72.5 million, as they hold his Early Bird rights.
He’s been one of the more incredible non-starting centers for the past two seasons, which is why he got a massive payday. For the Thunder, this was a need they had to address. Rebounding and defending the paint from bigger players, to help Chet Holmgren, was vital.
