Tyrese Maxey Wins Most Improved Player
The finalists were Tyrese Maxey, Coby White, and Alperen Sengun. Fans were wondering who would win between Chicago’s White and Philadelphia’s Maxey, and we have gotten an answer.
Maxey won this year’s Most Improved Player award with 51 first-place votes, while White only secured 32 first-place votes. For those curious about Sengun, he only secured 6 first-place votes.
In total voting numbers, Maxey had a very close battle with White. The final was 319-305, which makes sense given the difference in first-place and second-place votes.
This is also a very historic time for the Sixers; Tyrese Maxey is only the second Philadelphia player to win Most Improved Player. The first to do was Dana Barros in the 1994-95 season.
“It feels great,” Maxey said on the TNT broadcast where the award was announced. “Somebody like myself, who prides myself on putting in a lot of work and outworking people and finding ways to get 1% better every single time I step in the gym, it feels good for that to come to light, honestly.”
