Brooklyn Nets Hiring Jordi Fernandez As Head Coach
The list was between Kevin Young, Mike Budenholzer, and Jordi Fernandez for the Brooklyn Nets open position. Earlier reports said a meeting with Joe Tsai would be the final step to understanding who should lead Brooklyn next.
After a thorough coaching search, Tsai and Sean Marks will hire assistant head coach Jordi Fernandez on a multi-year deal to coach the organization. It’s unknown the exact specifics of the deal, however, it’s speculated to be a multi-year contract.
They’ve been searching for a head coach since February due to them firing Jacque Vaughn, who was with Brooklyn since 2016-17 as an assistant coach. He coached 139 total games in his tenure with Brooklyn.
Jordi Fernandez will now get a promotion in the NBA after working with the Sacramento Kings as a top assistant coach. From 2016-17 to 2021-22, the 41-year-old worked as an assistant under Michael Malone. From 2022-23 till now, he worked under Mike Brown.
