While the rest of the NBA wants the Golden State Warriors to go all-out this season to acquire a top superstar, Stephen Curry isn’t too keen on doing so if it means destroying their future.
He would rather see the team make smaller moves if it means saving the future, keeping depth, and drowning in bad choices for a “win-now opportunity.”
“Desperate trades or desperate moves that deplete the future, there is a responsibility on allowing or keeping the franchise in a good space and good spot when it comes to where we leave this thing when we’re done.”
Curry has a brilliant perspective on their current situation but did maintain the stress of remaining competitive responsibly.
“Doesn’t mean that you’re not trying to get better … nobody wants to be stale or be in a situation where you’re passing up opportunities. But it doesn’t mean that you’re desperate just flinging assets all around the place just because you want to do something,” said Curry.
Not only is Curry the greatest shooter ever, but he is also one of the most intelligent men in the game of basketball.
With Golden State not wanting to mortgage their future, they have reportedly dropped out of the Jimmy Butler sweepstakes. According to multiple reports from The Athletic, Nikola Vucevic has become a trade target in the eyes of the Warriors.
In every recent trade talk Golden State has had, they aren’t willing to move off of Jonathan Kuminga and Andrew Wiggins. This was seen in the trade negotiations between the Miami Heat and the Warriors.
