Curry took a shot to the knee, colliding with McKinley Wright, that left him unable to return to Saturday’s win over the Dallas Mavericks. This happened with 2:01 to go in the third quarter, Curry was playing defense against Wright.
When Curry left the game, he immediately had an x-ray – which showed negative. Per the Warriors, he is scheduled for an MRI next.
While he was limping back to the locker room, Curry did so under his own power. Two team trainers examined him on the bench and went back to the locker room with him.
It should be noted that the left knee he injured against the Mavericks is the same knee that he hurt on Thursday against the Denver Nuggets. Per Golden State’s head coach Steve Kerr, he wasn’t too sure if that collision two nights ago impacted this injury in any way.
“Any time a guy gets an MRI, there’s a concern level,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. “We’ll just have to wait and see the results. … This has happened many, many times over the years. So fingers crossed he’s OK.” (ESPN)
The Warriors are 6-5 without Stephen Curry this season, due to a left shoulder subluxation, so if they are without their franchise player then they’ll be prepared to win games without him.
“If he’s out, then we move forward and we do have some games to look at, some game film to look at,” Kerr said. “We’ll be ready, regardless.”
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Los Angeles Clippers have traded veteran guard James Harden to the Cleveland Cavaliers for young point guard Darius Garland.
The full terms of the deal sees Cleveland getting Harden, while Los Angeles gets Garland and a second-round pick. Initially, it was the Cavaliers who wanted a pick, but they were ultimately the ones who gave out draft capital.
Reportedly, over the past couple of days, both the 36-year-old and the Clippers were working together to find him a new home. This comes after the Clippers did not want to give Harden a two-year, $80 million extension. Harden didn’t like that, and he shortly there afterwards requested out of Los Angeles.
In six years, Harden has requested four trades. Since 2020, he has been with the Houston Rockets, Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, and most recently the Clippers. Cleveland will mark his fifth team in six years.
For Garland, the 26-year-old spent his entire career with the Cavaliers. Throughout the season, he has been facing injuries to his feet/toes. He has not played a game since January 14th. Garland is currently signed through the 2027-28 season on his five-year, $193 million extension. This extension was signed back in 2022.
According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick, Zach LaVine has full intentions of opting into his $48.9 million player option for next season. This season, he stands to make $47.5 million.
The league-wide expectation is that the 30-year-old will not be traded at this year’s NBA deadline. This is wildly due to his massive remaining contract.
However, this upcoming offseason, it is entirely likely to see Sacramento trading LaVine as an expiring contract for the 2026-27 season. Despite carrying the massive contract, they could find value for LaVine from a team looking to clear salary for the 2027 offseason.
This season, LaVine is averaging 19.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.
According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick, Karl-Anthony Towns to this day is still upset the New York Knicks entertained the idea of trading him away to the Milwaukee Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The 30-year-old seeing this unfold “led to hard feelings” and never really getting over it. This comes at a time where Towns has criticized, and openly expressed his frustrations, about his role within head coach Mike Brown’s offense multiple times throughout this season.
It’s unclear if the Knicks are going to make any moves at the deadline, but Towns’ name has been a recurring topic of discussion of being moved from New York. He has two years left on his contract, which sees him making $118 million in total.
This season, he is averaging 20.2 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game.
