According to multiple reports, spearheaded by ESPN, since the firing of Tom Thibodeau, the New York Knicks have been constructing their list of possible head coach candidates. This has ranged from Houston Rockets coach Ime Udoka to Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd.

While Houston has no interest in allowing their successful coach to interview for the Knicks open position, the Mavericks are giving Kidd the option to stay or to leave. Several reports have said Dallas won’t hold it against him if that’s the decision he wants to make.

New York is expected to reach out to the Mavericks to request an interview with Kidd, as both sides have mutual interest in one another.

“The way I would describe this is there’s mutual intrigue on both sides,” said Brian Windhorst on Monday’s Sports Center.

Kidd signed an extension during the Mavericks run to the NBA Finals back in 2024. It’s unclear whether the 52-year-old would want to leave Dallas in hopes of competing for a championship soon, or stay and develop Cooper Flagg – assuming the Mavericks select him.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, confirmed by the Cleveland Cavaliers, Darius Garland has undergone surgery to repair the damage suffered to his big toe.

The injury was first discovered on March 23rd, but he only missed two games in the regular season. In the postseason, Garland’s production and minutes were up and down due to the injury. He was seen playing through it in their series against the Indiana Pacers.

In total, he missed four playoff games after re-aggravating the injury in their series against the Miami Heat.

Despite Cleveland confident in the 25-year-old’s ability to “make a full recovery and resume basketball activities by the start of training camp” that begins in October, doctors expect him to be out for the next four-to-five months. This will force him out for the beginning of the next regular season.

In 75 appearances last season, Garland averaged 20.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Memphis Grizzlies will be without their young center due to him requiring surgery to re-stabilize his left ankle.

Zach Edey re-sprained his ankle during an offseason workout, which has forced him to make the tough decision to get surgery performed on that ankle.

With the timing of everything, reports are coming out that he will miss the beginning of next season.

“After consulting with the Grizzlies and multiple specialists, we decided this is the best approach for Zach long-term as it gets him back to 100% with no limitations,” Edey’s agent Mark Bartelstein said. “He will make a full recovery and be back better than ever.”

Last season, Edey averaged 9.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game.
