According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Precious Achiuwa has made the decision to sign a one-year contract with the Miami Heat. He is returning to the organization that started his professional basketball career.

Last season, the 26-year-old came off the Knicks bench averaging 6.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. On average, Achiuwa played for 20.5 minutes a night.

Achiuwa began his career with the Heat, then was traded to the Toronto Raptors, then traded to New York in December of 2023. This will be fourth team of his career, as it began back in 2020.

According to multiple reports, the Miami Heat are looking to address their frontcourt depth needs and they have locked eyes on potentially acquiring Precious Achiuwa.

Both sides have mutual interest in one another, as the 25-year-old wrapped up his one-year, $6 million contract with the New York Knicks.

Last season saw a slight dip in statistical productivity from Achiuwa, as he was down in both points and rebounds.

If Miami were to waive Terry Rozier, then they would have enough room to sign a player like Achiuwa. They currently don’t have enough room for even a veteran minimum contract signing.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, confirmed by the organization, the Miami Heat has traded Haywood Highsmith and a 2032 second-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets for a conditional 2026 second-round pick.

Miami completed this trade to get underneath the tax line for the upcoming season; this follows after it was reported the 28-year-old had knee surgery earlier this month and was looking to be out eight-to-ten weeks.

Highsmith appeared in 74 games averaging 6.5 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.
