Rudy Gobert: Gambling Hurts The NBA
The Minnesota Timberwolves lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers, which saw Rudy Gobert foul out, and now he is saying the league and their officials are corrupted by gambling.
During the game, Gobert flashed a money gesture towards officials, resulting in a technical foul. After the game, the veteran believes these decisions are more than just mistakes.
“I made some mistakes. I airballed a dunk. Mistakes happen. Referees make mistakes, too,” Gobert said. “But sometimes I think it’s more than mistakes. I think everyone that’s in this league knows. I think it’s got to get better.”
Gobert, who doesn’t mind being the “bad guy” to speak “the truth,” is doubling down on his claims of gambling being a horrific negative for the league.
“I think it’s hurting our game. I know the betting and all that is becoming bigger and bigger, but it shouldn’t feel that way,” Gobert said.
This season, like those in the past, has had players and coaches speak out on officiating and how it can look to be corrupted.
