What a historic day for not only A’ja Wilson’s career but also for the WNBA. As we all know, Wilson has secured her third MVP of her Hall Of Fame career, but she created history that hasn’t been done since 1997.
Cynthia Cooper was the last women’s player to win Most Valuable Player unanimously; fast-forward to 2024, and fans witness Wilson receiving all 67 first-place votes for 670 points from the media panel.
The 28-year-old averaged 26.9 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.8 steals, and 2.6 blocks. She averaged a career-high 34.4 minutes per game and shot 51.8% from the field.
As mentioned before, this is Wilson’s third time winning MVP. Her first came in 2020, then in 2022, and now in 2024. She’s been playing for only seven seasons, so fans have witnessed 42% of her career being a reigning MVP.
Napheesa Collier (467 points) came in second place, Breanna Stewart (295 points) came in third place, and Caitlin Clark (130 points) came in fourth place.
