Clippers To Sign Russell Westbrook

After a couple of weeks of wondering where Russell Westbrook would end up beyond the trade deadline and beginning of the buyout market, an answer has finally been given.

After finalizing his buyout from the Utah Jazz, Westbrook will be signing a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. This deal doesn’t come as a shock with weeks of rumors surrounding them signing the veteran guard and that Los Angeles opened conversations with him a couple of days ago.

The Clippers were looking for point guard depth after trading both Reggie Jackson and John Wall. It was believed that once they got rid of Wall that Westbrook would be joining the team, that belief has been confirmed here today.

Despite adding Bones Hyland, Los Angeles felt it needed another veteran on the team – one of their final moves to compete for a deep postseason run. Also, Paul George campaigned for the signing of Westbrook. One of the main reasons behind their signing.

Westbrook averaged 15.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 7.5 assists in 28.7 minutes per game off the Lakers bench. There is a possibility of Westbrook getting a starting role, however, at the moment they are not offering him that role.

The Clippers are sitting at 4th in the West at a record of 33-28.
