Dejounte Murray Would Come Back To The Spurs
With the Atlanta Hawks and Dejounte Murray being at the center of trade rumors, speculation has risen about where the combo guard will end up. Interestingly enough, the man himself has said he would welcome a trade back to San Antonio.
During Atlanta’s game against the Spurs, TNT sideline reporter Dennis Scott revealed what he and Murray discussed during the segment. One of the topics was a rumor of San Antonio trying to reacquire him.
When asked about the Spurs rumor, Scott said Murray told him: “Pop (Spurs coach Gregg Popovich) is like a father to me, I would welcome that. But right now, I’m a Hawk; I’m going to stay professional and play the right way.”
With the 27-year-old saying that Popovich is like a father to him and would welcome going back, this could be a real possibility. Maybe them being a “front-runner”?
The Dejounte Murray trade happened ahead of the 2022-23 season, where Danilo Gallinari, three first-round picks, and a first-round pick swap was given up to receive Murray and Jock Landale.
It should also be noted Murray signed a four-year, $114 million contract extension that will kick in next season.
