Derrick Rose Says No Buyout Has Been Discussed

The Phoenix Suns are a team monitoring the Derrick Rose situation, however, according to Rose himself, there is no situation where a contract buyout is going to happen.

“No, I haven’t talked to anybody about that. I haven’t talked to anyone,” Rose said Saturday when asked if he had considered seeking a buyout. “I haven’t even thought about it. I’m locked in to my thing right now. It’s kind of hard to think about something that I’ve never pursued and never talked about with them.”

Rose claims that New York and him haven’t discussed a buyout, even after falling out of the rotation since late December.

“No. Y’all heard something? I’ve just been locked in, doing my recovery. [I] talk to Thibs about the team, talk to Leon about the team, but other than that, I haven’t talked to them about [a buyout],” Rose said. “I think that we’ve been so transparent in the past that if I was thinking about moving, or they was to move me somewhere, they’d give me a heads up.”

March 1st is the deadline, so if the Suns are going to have a chance to get a playoff-eligible Derrick Rose, then the Knicks will have to buy him out in the coming days.

Rose is making $14.5 million this season with a team option for the 2023-24 season worth $15.6 million.

Suns Monitoring Potential Derrick Rose Buyout

Derrick Rose hasn’t appeared in a game since December 31st and that is making the Phoenix Suns monitor the Knicks potentially buying out Rose’s contract.

While a buyout is unlikely, Phoenix has yet to completely rule out the possibility. It is also being reported that New York won’t be picking up the team option for next season, which means Rose will be an unrestricted free agent.

So don’t rule out the Suns picking him up in the offseason, there is a chance of that happening.

Derrick Rose to the Knicks???

Derrick Rose to the Knicks???

Derrick Rose to the Knicks??? That could be a possibility… or even reality for the former MVP. The rebuilding Pistons is trying to get back on track and they are looking to do that by swapping out D-Rose for someone or something else.

With Rose on the final year of his contract, instead of letting him walk they will try to gain something out of the 32-year-old veteran. This has been leading towards the Pistons and Knicks. Having real talks. Real-time with each other. Something to consider for sure as we are nearing Trade Month in the NBA.

Reuniting?

Derrick Rose could be having a reunion… with an old HC. That head coach? Tom Thibodea. They would be reuniting after a memorable moment with the former MVP when he won that award in his first season as HC.

It would be no shock if he wanted to go there, they have RJ and Randle and then you have Tom. That’s a really good lineup and the Knicks have been sneaky good this year, shocking… right?

What could both sides get in-return?

Taking Rose out of the equation, there are some pieces that both sides could get. First of all, Dennis Smith Jr. Could find his way with the Knicks, has been struggling in Thib’s scheme, and offered to go to the G-League to have more minutes and a better chance of success.

That’s one, second of all draft picks and different players. I think the Knicks will be getting a good deal with Rose, veteran help for younger players. Plus, he still has some game to him. Also, I do believe both sides will get at least one draft pick. Even if it is a second-rounder.

Rose is averaging 14 points and 4 assists per game this season.
