Devastating news for Christian Wood leaves the Rockets SPEECHLESS!

Devastating news for Christian Wood leaves the Rockets SPEECHLESS! This new, and reoccurring injury, is hurting the Rockets own Wood. As we know he had to leave Thursday’s, which is today, due to rolling his right ankle against the Grizzlies.

The Rockets are left devastated along with Christian Wood, why? Because, even though this may look like a normal rolled ankle. It is not the case. Meaning he rolled the same right ankle that he suffered in this past January; that caused him to miss three games.

You might think that is minor, but re-injuring ankles within a month can be crushing. Especially to the same ankle, ankles are everything because you run a lot. Stating the obvious. He is also a big man that grabs the ball on rebounds, fights for it, and uses his physicality on the inside.

What happens to the Rockets?

This is not the most ideal time for this injury to happen to their best player, in their respective positions. As the Rockets have been pulling together impressive wins and have won six of their last seven games; plus has a surging record of 10-10.

This is great news since getting rid of James Harden in a four-way-trade. Wood has been stepping up, and other players have been great. Like Eric Gordon, John Wall, etc.

Depending how long this injury lasts for and to the extent of the injury; this should not impact them that much, but you never know. If he is out for 5 games then they win three out of five of them. That is my take, they have Oladipo and Wall working together to get the starting group hyped and ready to go. One keeps the front court going and one keeps the backcourt going strong.

Either way one of the strong candidates for the Most Improved Player Award is dealing with a devastating injury; However, we will have more news on this topic when more presents itself.

Christian Wood Signs Deal With Lakers

It has been confirmed by multiple outlets that Christian Wood has signed a multi-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Per Wood himself, the Lakers have been a team he’s always wanted to play for. He is now getting the chance to prove himself once more and repping L.A. in the process.

Per Woj of ESPN, the 27-year-old has signed a two-year, $5.7 million deal. This deal does include a player option.

One of the main reasons why Los Angeles signed him was due to his ability to play at the center position to help ease Anthony Davis’s workload. Also, he is a great stretch big that can help the front court tremendously.

Lakers Still Wanting To Sign Christian Wood

The Los Angeles Lakers aren’t done making big moves yet as they still have their eyes set on signing Mavericks’ player Christian Wood.

Anthony Davis got a huge contract, that helps them on both ends of the court. Los Angeles wants Wood so that their offense can get an even bigger push. Plus, they aren’t as concerned about his defensive liabilities due to his offensive capabilities.

The Lakers have two open roster spots and would like to fill their 14th spot ahead of training camp. Names such as Bismack Biyombo and Wood have been popping up since the beginning of summer.

As a side note, Wood would have to accept the veteran’s minimum. Why? Because that is the only thing Los Angeles can offer players at this point.

As an additional side note and reminder, the Dallas Mavericks have no intentions of keeping Wood. They’ve expressed to him that their relationship is over with Dallas looking to move on from the big man.

Despite being a bench player, Wood averaged 16.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks. He averaged 26.0 minutes per game.
