Cavaliers Must Choose Between Darius Garland Or Donovan Mitchell
After getting bounced in the second round of the postseason, many reports have come out involving the Cleveland Cavaliers and their players; the biggest one so far is Darius Garland’s frustration and forcing Cleveland into a corner.
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Garland’s agent, Rich Paul, will be speaking with the organization about a potential trade if Donovan Mitchell is extended. It’s believed they want the front office to choose between Mitchell or Garland.
It’s been evident that the backcourt combination of Garland and Mitchell has not been working, since Garland’s role/production has altered since acquiring him in 2022, and now it’ll cause Cleveland to make a franchise-changing move.
Mitchell is eligible for a four-year extension worth around $208 million. For Garland, he has three years left on his $197 million contract – it doesn’t expire until 2028-29.
