According to Mark Stein, while the Milwaukee Bucks have no interest in trading Giannis Antetokounmpo themselves, they will trade him if that’s what the superstar wants.

“It is understood quite clearly in 29 other front offices that Antetokounmpo is only ever going to be made available for trade if he pushes for it.”

Many teams, like the Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets, have been attached to the rumors and reports of wanting to trade for Antetokounmpo.

Currently, Milwaukee is 2-8 to begin the season, which has sparked conversations of Giannis being frustrated and wanting to leave the franchise.

As of right now, both sides remain committed to each other. The 29-year-old is under contract until the 2027 season, which would see him become an unrestricted free agent.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the Milwaukee Bucks have no interest at all in trading their superstar player, despite growing speculations of Giannis Antetokounmpo wanting out.

A number of teams like the Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat have shown public interest in Antetokounmpo.

“Teams have let the Bucks know in recent months they would make an offer for the Greek Freak if that day ever comes. But those are incoming calls, not outgoing and it’s likely to remain that way,” writes Brian Windhorst.  

“The East doesn’t look that formidable right now. If I were them I would play the long game and believe in Giannis and Dame,” an East executive told ESPN. “The problem is I don’t think they’re beating Boston even if they hit their stride.”

He’s under contract until the year 2028-29, but has a player option the year prior, so fans could see him gone out of Milwaukee in the 2027-28 offseason. This is all based on him remaining with the organization.

As of right now, the 2-6 Bucks have no desires to make any changes. Their next game is Friday evening against the New York Knicks.

Doc Rivers On Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Injury: ‘I’m Not Sure’

Before getting on a plane to fly to Indiana, the Milwaukee Bucks held practice on Thursday. The most notable headliner from practice was not seeing Giannis Antetokounmpo do any contact or live practicing, but there is some good news attached.

As Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported, the 29-year-old was doing walk-through drills by “shooting and moving.” This is a very positive note for the Bucks, who are heading into Game 3 tied at one apiece.

Doc Rivers did provide an update regarding the health and a possible return; however, it was extremely vague and swayed between pessimistic and optimistic.

“He’s getting close,” Rivers said. “But, I don’t know what that even means. I’m being honest. I saw him moving around and in my mind I said he’s getting close. Does that mean a day, four days? I’m not sure.”

Game 3 is Friday at 5:00 PM EST. The Bucks are listing him as doubtful for tomorrow’s contest.
